Biography

George Hutcheson Moggach was the eldest son of Alexander Moggach (1855-1949) and the only son of Alexander's first wife, Margaret Hutcheson (1848-1890), who died during his childhood. He was born on 30 May 1885 in the croft of Cruach in the parish of Boharm in Banffshire, Scotland. George worked on his father's farm before becoming a carpenter. He emigrated to the United States of America, where he married Julia, a migrant from the Irish Free State and had a daughter of the same name. He spent the majority of his adult life in Maryland and died on 13 July 1973.
